Artist's Statement

The new work is about the infinite flow of light and the expansions of consciousness that light is an expression of. Light in its unbounded flow represents liberation from boundaries. These paintings are about "Shakti", the transformative power of the all-pervading energy and radiance of light, the infinite manifestation of light, which the viewer can resonate with. They are constantly vibrating events, energy fields that become doubly active when engaged by the viewer’s vision. The interaction of the viewer with the art creates a visual phenomenon in the viewer’s awareness of the vibrating frequencies of light. It is not a mere intellectual exercise, but a real physical, emotional, spiritual event that functions on many levels simultaneously. The impact will vary depending on the attention and openness of the viewer.          

Many of these paintings were done on Cape Cod where sea light has a particular intensity. The flow of the sea combined with the flow of light creates a celestial  vision.  The ocean plays a major role in these paintings, thus the seascape references. The ocean is also a symbol of all encompassing, unbounded flow and power of nature.         

They were painted in a spontaneous manner, a kind of joyous improvisational duet with the rhythms of nature, a visual gospel of hymns.
